IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

CANCELLATION DUE TO COVID-19

The city of Burnsville has announced cancellations of several events and the closure of several public buildings as a precautionary measure in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Ames Center, home of the Dakota Valley Symphony & Chorus, is among the facilities being temporarily closed for the next 30 days. As a result, our rehearsals and therefore the Young Artists’ Concert planned for April 19 have been canceled.

We are disappointed to have to cancel this concert as hearing the Young Artist winners is one of the highlights of the year, but we do support this decision in light of the recent recommendations by Governor Walz and the Minnesota Department of Health. The safety of our members and supporters is our first priority.

Additional details for orchestra and audience members will be available in the coming days. Information about Burnsville closures can be found at the link below.

!!!CANCELLED!!!Young Artists’ Concert

Sunday, April 19, 2 PM
Featuring the winner(s) of our Young Artists’ Competition held in January
and welcoming Yuri Ivan, Guest Conductor

Mozart: Overture to the Abduction from the Seraglio
Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5

While Maestro Ramsey is away, the Dakota Valley Symphony welcomes Ukrainian/Minnesotan Conductor, Yuri Ivan, to the podium for a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5. Raised in an environment that is rich with the traditions of Russian music, Yuri will surely bring us a performance of the Tchaikovsky that is true to the spirit of the composer: dramatic, powerful, and above all, captivatingly tuneful. This concert will also feature the winner of our Young Artists’ Competition.
